  • In late May 2025, Ojit was shortlisted among the top command JCOs. Later, all the shortlisted candidates underwent a tough interview and evaluation by the Infantry Directorate (Inf‑6) and senior JCOs.
  • On 5 June 2025, he was officially appointed as the first-ever Command Subedar Major (Comd SM) of Northern Command in Udhampur. He was appointed by Lt. Gen. Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C Northern Command.
  • His appointment came a few days after the COAS directed the establishment of Comd SM positions across all seven Army commands, including the HQ of the Chief of Army Staff, mirroring Western-style Senior Sergeant-Major roles.
