  • In 1995-96, Surinder launched an agitation for the establishment of a separate agriculture university for the Jammu region in the state.
  • Surinder resigned from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology in 2008.
  • Surinder in the 2008 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections got 12,500 votes and stood as runner-up from the Nowshera constituency.
