• Priyansh Vishwakarma is an Indian politician who is known for being a member of the BJP. He is also known for being involved in the murder case of a girl named Vedika Thakur in 2023.

• He is the owner of the Leela Group of Builders and Developers, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

• On 16 June 2023, Priyansh shot at a woman named Vedika Thakur in his office in Dhanvantari Nagar causing her serious injuries. After shooting her, instead of immediately taking her to a hospital, he drove around in his car with her for approximately four hours. He admitted her to the Smart City Hospital and absconded from the hospital with the pistol and CCTV records from his office. He contacted her brother and told him about the incident after which her family came to the hospital.

• On 18 June 2023, a video surfaced showing Vedika admitted to the hospital where she was acknowledging the fact that Priyansh was the one who shot her. In the video, she also expressed that she did not know the reason behind shooting her.

• On 19 June 2023, he was caught by the police from Narsinghpur district after which he accepted shooting Vedika. He reached the Dhanwantri Nagar police station in a black Scorpio carrying BJP flags. The police did not file a case within 24 hours but after the relatives started questioning the police, a case was registered against him at the Sanjeevani Nagar police station under IPC section 308 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 25, 26 of the Arms Act.

• Vedika’s uncle, Ashok Thakur said that initially, her condition improved, but her condition worsened due to the bullet remaining in her back, leading to the spread of infection. Vedika underwent a stomach operation, and eventually, the doctors decided to put her on a ventilator on 24 June 2023. Her organs began to fail, and on 26 June 2023 at around 11:30 am, the doctors declared her dead. The doctors mentioned that Vedika’s organs were gradually failing, and even after a week since the incident, it was not possible to remove the bullet from her spinal cord.

• After Vedika’s death, the police increased the charge of murder against Priyansh. The police also sent the bullet from Vedika’s body to Forensic Science Laboratory for investigation.
