  • Swami Mukundananda is an Indian spiritual leader, author, bhakti Yog saint, and yoga teacher. He is the founder of an organisation named Jagadguru Kripaluji Yog, which focuses on promoting overall well-being, including physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
  • From a young age, he developed an interest in spirituality. He used to dedicate his free time to meditation and exploring the questions related to the existence of human beings.
  • As his father had a transferable job, Swami Mukundananda lived in various cities during his childhood.
  • During his class 8, Swami Mukundananda developed a keen interest in spirituality. With the help of a book on meditation, he started practising meditation.
  • While Swami Mukundananda was pursuing engineering, he became curious about the concept of absolute truth. The models taught in his engineering classes were based on assumptions, which made him question what the ultimate truth really was.
  • He learnt the logical and analytical concepts at IIT which he started relating with the spiritual concepts.
  • Although he initially was least interested in studies. However, when he started learning about spirituality, he realised that his actions were dedicated to god. He then started focusing on his studies.
  • Swami Mukundananda went on to pursue further studies at IIM Calcutta where he learnt subjects like sociology, psychology, economics, and organizational behaviour. However, he observed that these subjects explained only theories based on assumptions and were not related to real life.
  • During his time at IIM, he met a classmate who shared his interest in spirituality. His classmate asked him to read sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam to know more about spirituality.
  • Alongside his regular classes, Swami Mukundananda practised meditation, also known as sadhana. He firmly believed that the truth he had discovered through spirituality was what he had been searching for.
  • After completing his studies, he started working at various private companies like Tata Burroughs. However, after three months of working there, he started realising that he was not meant for jobs, and he wanted to do something for the spiritual awakening of people. After doing private jobs for a few years, he left the job.

  • A few years later, while he was in Mumbai, he met a spiritual group. The group emphasised the need of young people who can combine spirituality and knowledge of science to make people aware of spirituality. This inspired Swami Mukundananda to dedicate his life to spirituality, and he became a sanyasi while he was in the US.
  • However, his family did not like his idea of becoming a sanyasi, as they wanted him to do a job with a good salary. Gradually, his family noticed positive changes in Swami’s work. People were inspired by his lectures and used to give positive feedback after watching his spiritual CDs and DVDs.
  • While he was travelling in India, he read a book on the Indian spiritual leader named Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj which had a picture of Kripalu Maharaj meditating. Inspired by the book, a few days later, he went to attend a lecture which was given by one of Kripalu Maharaj’s followers in Mumbai. There, he got impressed with his way of presenting the ideas.
  • A few days later, he got the opportunity to meet Kripalu Maharaj. In his first meeting, he felt the spiritual aura of Maharaj. Swami instantly realised that this was what he was searching for. He then decided to become a devotee of Maharaj. When he asked Kripalu Maharaj for the same, Maharaj told Swami that if he wanted to become a devotee, he had to read all the religious scriptures.

  • He then joined Kripaluji Maharaj’s ashram near Allahabad, where he started studying holy scriptures and practising spirituality under Maharaj’s guidance. He started reading ancient texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Bhagavatam.
  • He also learnt the meditation technique “Roopydhyan,” which was taught to him by Kripalu Maharaj. After completing his spiritual studies, Maharaj asked him to share his knowledge with people across different nations. He was also given the name “Bliss of Lord Krishna” by Maharaj.
  • Swami Mukundananda helped people understand and apply the teachings of the scriptures in their everyday lives. His lectures clear up misunderstandings and myths about different paths to realise the presence of god.
  • His lectures mainly covered topics from the scriptures like the Vedas, Upanishads, Shreemad Bhagwatam, Puranas, Bhagavad Geeta, Ramayan and other sacred texts. He has also incorporated teachings of Western philosophies and quotes from scriptures of different religions.
  • Swami Mukundananda’s lectures have inspired devotees in various countries such as Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. His educational background and proficiency in English made his programs easily understandable. In India, Swami has conducted preaching programs in various states including Odisha, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

  • He has also started the KAKE (Kids Assisting Kids with Education) initiative, which is a project that has collaborated JKYog and the Hope Supply Company to create a positive change in the education of homeless children. The primary objective of the KAKE Initiative is to supply laptops to homeless children.
  • His organisation JKYog is an organisation formed with an aim to collaborate the teachings of spirituality and Yoga, with Hindu scriptures. The ultimate goal of the organisation is to help individuals achieve overall well-being in their spiritual, mental, and physical aspects. Its headquarter is located in Plano, Texas.
