  • In childhood, he used to bunk school to watch films. He used to watch each film three to four times.
  • While he was studying in college, he started a course in TV presentation. As a part of the course, he had to make a short film. While working on the film, he decided to make his career in filmmaking.

  • During a seminar at his college, the Indian cinematographer Balu Mahendra visited his college. Vetrimaaran then decided to learn filmmaking from Balu. Later, Balu hired him as one of his assistants in filmmaking. To pursue his career in filmmaking, he left his post-graduation midway.
  • While he was studying at Loyola College, he met a girl named Aarthi. Soon, they became friends. Aarthi then proposed to him for marriage. However, Vetrimaaran told her to wait for around 10 years. Later, they got married.
