  • Apart from being a batsman, he was also a wicketkeeper.
  • He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in 1986. He played for the state until 1995. During this period, he established himself as a key player for the state.
  • During 1987-88 season, he had become very successful and scored 551 runs for the state.

  • He played only 7 ODIs for India and his high score was 53 runs (off 77 balls).
  • In 1991, he performed well and captained Tamil Nadu for a short period of time.
  • Chandrasekhar used to open with Krishnamachari Srikkanth for Tamil Nadu.

  • From 1995 to 1998, he played for Goa. His highest score was 237 (not out) while playing for Goa against Kerala. He scored 4999 runs and 10 centuries in his first-class career.

  • In July 2012, he was appointed as the coach of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Team. However, he was sacked from the position as Tamil Nadu performed poorly in Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
  • He had also run a cricket academy in Chennai, India.
  • Chandrasekhar had close ties with Rahul Dravid. According to him, he taught Dravid how to play sweep-shot. Dravid’s children visited Chandrasekhar’s academy regularly.

  • On 15 August 2019, he committed suicide in his home in Chennai. It is said that he had a huge debt due to which he committed suicide.
