  • B. K. Ganjoo was an Indian telecommunication engineer, who was one of the Kashmiri pandits who died during the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.
  • He was a resident of Chota Bazar, Kanikadal, Srinagar, and he was employed at the P&T department in Kashmir.
  • At the time of social and political unrest in Kashmir in 1990, he was one of the prime suspects in the eyes of the revolters, who was believed to be the mole of the Indian government.
  • On the evening of 19 March 1990, some militants followed Ganjoo when he was on his way home. Upon entering the house, his wife hid him in a barrel of rice kept in their attic. The militants entered the house intending to kill Ganjoo, but they left after they could not find him. However, one of Ganjoo’s neighbors snitched to militants that Ganjoo was hiding in a rice barrel. The militants went back into his house and shot him dead with 6 bullets.

  • Some media houses report that Ganjoo’s wife asked the militants of her husband to kill her too, but they spared her to mourn her husband’s demise.

Ganjoo were rubbished by a media house as it claimed that after listening to the gunshots fired at Gunjoo, his wife slumped down to the floor, and the militants left their house without paying attention to the grief-stricken and tormented woman.   • Post her husband’s death in Kashmir, Vijay Ganjoo relocated to Delhi, where she was offered a job in her husband’s department by the government.
  • In memory of B. K. Ganjoo, Bal Krishna Ganjoo Memorial Park was built in Central Delhi.
