Controversies | Rape and Harassment Charges In March 2015, a woman Kabaddi player from Kolhapur district lodged a complaint with the police, alleging Kashiling of raping and harassing her. He was charged for offences under sections 376 (2) (rape), 323 (assault), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Some Lesser Known Facts About Kashiling Adake
- His father, Ram Chandra, was a wrestler. Kashiling Adake was never interested in wrestling and found it scary. Once, in a media conversation, he remembered his childhood physique. He said,
I was never interested in playing any sport. I was not well built. Bada sukha sa tha (I was quite lean).”
- He used to practice kabaddi during his school days under the guidance of his father.
- His father passed away in 2013, and being the breadwinner of the family, the burden fell on the shoulders of Kashiling. Kashiling Adake began working in his fields and left his studies. He narrated his teenage struggle in a conversation with a media house. He said,
I started working in the fields. My father never let my mom work on the fields and I too didn’t want her to work.”
- While working in a sugarcane factory for four years, he earned Rs. 200 for an 8-hour shift and received one meal per day.
- He did not stop practising wrestling and joined one of the nine clubs named Kranti Sena in his village Kasegaon in the Sangli district of Maharashtra.
- Whenever Kashiling Adake took his cattle for grazing to the field, he was simultaneously practising his wrestling skills.
- Later, one of his uncles, Sunil Adake, who used to represent Bharat Petroleum in wrestling, helped him move to Mumbai so that he could try his luck at the sport. Sunil asked him to increase his weight.
- Kashiling Adake’s mother encouraged him to pursue a career in wrestling. She told him to go for it.
- Later, he faced rejection on his first attempt at the trials held for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Kabaddi team in Mumbai.
- While recollecting the memory of his first rejection in an interview, Kashiling Adake was once seen quoting the exact words of the selector; he said, “Agli baar mehnat karke aana” (Work hard when you come next time).
- Reportedly, he stayed at the academy and observed the existing players and learned from them.
- After a year, Kashiling Adake managed to secure a place in the Kabaddi team during the SAI trials.
- During his period at SAI, the coach was impressed with his playing style and asked him to play for them on a contract basis. He was paid Rs. 5,500 monthly. He was given a permanent place in the team a year later.
- Kashiling Adake was then selected by the Mahindra Kabaddi team. According to Kashiling, his union with Mahindra KC was the best period of his career as he earned 24 best-player awards during his stint.
- Later, he turned down the offer from the Railways as he wanted to play with the Bharat Petroleum kabaddi team.
- Soon after that, Kashiling Adake joined the national camp and was picked by the Pro Kabaddi League’s Dabang Delhi team for Rs. 10 Lakh. Reportedly, he used this money to rebuild his house in his village, which got shattered in heavy rains.
- During the second season of the Pro Kabaddi League, Kashiling Adake ended up at the top of the Raiders’ Leaderboard with 114 points which earned him the Best Raider of the Tournament Award.
- His best performance was seen in a 45-45 draw match against the Telugu Titans in the second season of PKL. Kashiling Adake scored 24 points during that match and created a record for the most points scored by a player in a single game. That record was equalled by Patna Pirates’ Pardeep Narwal in the third season of the Pro Kabaddi League.
