•  Deepak Nehra is an Indian freestyle wrestler. In 2022, he won bronze at the commonwealth games in the 97kg category.

• He was born and brought up in Nindana Village, Maham (Rohtak), Haryana, India.

• Deepak Nehra grew up in poverty. His father, Surinder Singh Nehra, was a peasant, who studied till 12th standard, while his mother, Mukesh Kumari, is a homemaker, who studied till 10th standard. According to Deepak, the family didn’t have any television set, and the neighbours would often inform the family about Deepak’s win/loss in any competition.

• Since childhood, Deepak Nehra was interested in outdoor activities, When he turned five years old, his father sent him to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Academy in Mirchpur village, Hisar to learn the tactics of wrestling.

• In 2021, he won bronze in the 97 kg category at the Junior World Wrestling Championship for which his coach Ajay Dhanda and Jai Bhagwan Lather rewarded him with Rs 51 thousand.

• In 2022, he won bronze in the 97 kg category at The World Ranking Series.

• In the same year, he won gold in Men’s 97kg freestyle wrestling event at the Senior Under-23 Asia Championship.

• He won bronze in Men’s 97kg freestyle event at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games; he defeated Pakistan’s Tayyab Raza Awan by 10-2. After his win, Nehra said,
  

  I want to thank God. It was my first competition and I won a medal. I will try to win gold in the 2024 Olympics. I came for the medal and won it.”
