• In 1999, Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in recognition of the organisation’s humanitarian work on several continents. Watching Doctors Without Borders win a Nobel Prize intrigued Rupam to pursue a career in medicine.

• During her college days at Drexel, she was appointed the president of Physicians for Social Responsibility.

• She worked as an Assistant Pediatric Professor at National Jewish Health, a hospital in Denver, from 2015 to 2020.

• In 2018, Rupam Kaur agreed to be filmed for the docuseries Indian Matchmaking in which marriage consultant Sima Taparia (aka Sima aunty) helps her clients to find a spouse via the arranged marriage process; the show aired in 2020. In the show, she was presented as a divorced single mother living in Denver, who, according to Sima, had slim chances of getting remarried due to a lack of potential suitors. In the last episode of the show, Rupam Kaur told Sima that she had found a guy through an online dating application called Bumble and that she wanted to pursue him.

• In 2019, Rupam was visiting her family in New York when a profile belonging to a man named Nitin caught her attention on the dating app Bumble. The profile picture of Nitin featured him with his daughter, from which Rupam depicted that Nitin too was a single parent just like her. Thereafter, she reached out to him and asked him out immediately. However, at that time Nitin was busy with his daughter; therefore, they didn’t meet. After some time, Nitin flew out to Denver to meet Rupam, where they had their first date.
