• Marizanne Kapp is a South African cricketer who is known for being the first cricketer for South Africa to take a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. In 2023, she was picked by Delhi Capitals for the Women’s Premier League.

• She was born into a family that was totally into fitness. She and her younger sister used to play all the sports in school. When she was in school, her father used to take her for a sprint every night, swimming in the morning and running during the day. She used to take care of her fitness while growing up and it became a routine for her.

• When she was young, she used to play rugby, soccer and many other sports with the boys. In an interview, she said that she was a tomboy. She liked playing all the sports, but cricket was her favourite. In an interview, she said that she learned a lot of things from cricket including bowling, batting and fielding.

• Kapp represented her region, Eastern Province, in several sports.

• When she finished school, her mother asked her to find a job, but at that time, there was no money given to the players who played for South Africa.

• In 2012, when she was part of the Northern women’s team, she scored 106 runs against Western Province in the CSA Women’s Provincial League.

• On March 2022, took her first five-wicket in a match against England in the World Cup.

• In May 2022, she played the FairBreak Invitational T20 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the Falcons team. In the final between of the tournament with the Tornadoes team, she scored 67 runs which included six fours and two sixes. She became the player of the match in the tournament, but they could not win the match.

• In June 2022, she scored her first century with 150 runs in test cricket against England. Her score also became the highest individual score for South Africa in a women’s Test match.

• In July 2022, she was picked for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England as a part of the South Africa team, but had to leave the team because her brother-in-law met with an accident and her nephews fell ill.

• In February 2023, she took compassionate leave from South Africa’s T20 squad for the T20 tri-series against India because her wife Dane van Niekerk could not join the team. Dane was unable to clear the fitness test and she was left out of the squad. Kapp took to Twitter to thank Cricket South Africa and said,
  

  Emotional couple of days, I am a wife FIRST and then a cricketer. Thank you CSA for affording me the opportunity to be home to support my wife and see the family, as I mentally refresh and prepare for the T20 World Cup. It has always been my biggest honour to represent my country.”

Then having to play another one after eight years where I had minimum preparation for the Test match because I was unwell and then finding my team in the position we were in at 45 for four, it is something that will stay with me throughout my career.”
