  • Kotha Prabhakar Reddy is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which was formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He won the Medak Lok Sabha seat in Telangana in 2014 by-elections and was re-elected as MP from Medak in 2019.
  • His daughter, K. Keerthi Reddy, was listed in the most prestigious Forbes India 30 under-30 list in 2021.
  • After completing his formal education, Reddy joined his family business Soni Transportations, a Hyderabad-based logistics company, which owns hundreds of buses and trucks.
  • He was an active participant in the Telangana Statehood movement.
  • In 2014, he began his political journey as a member of the TRS. The party leader K Chandrashekar Rao won the Medak seat in the 2014 general elections with a clear majority of 6,57,492 votes. However, he vacated the seat when he was appointed the chief minister of the newly formed state Telangana, leading to a by-election on the seat. It was speculated that TRS might lose this seat, but Reddy’s victory in the by-election surprised the opposition.

  • In 2023, during Prabhakar’s campaign in Surampalli village as a candidate for the Dubbak assembly constituency, he was attacked by Gatani Raju, who stabbed him in the stomach with a knife. Subsequently, the local BRS cadre caught and manhandled Raju. It was reported that Gatani Raju was affiliated with the Jai Congress Mirdoddi Mandal. Following the incident, Raju was arrested and faced charges of attempted murder. Meanwhile, Prabhakar was hospitalized at Yashoda Hospitals in Secunderabad, where he underwent an extensive four-hour surgery. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao accused the opposition of promoting hooliganism and violence as the cause of the incident.
