• Jaiman Chamkila used to live with his maternal grandparents in Faridkot, Punjab the majority of the time as his parents were mostly away for shows.

• Jaiman Chamkila’s maternal grandparents Gucharan Singh, who was a drama inspector, and Rajwans Kaur raised him after the death of his parents.

• In 1996, Jaiman’s maternal grandmother brought him to Ludhiana from Faridkot after the death of his maternal grandfather.

• As he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Jaiman always considered them his own parents even after the death of Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur.

• Jaiman was just 4 years old when his parents were shot dead in 1988.

• Jaiman had to leave his studies midway because his maternal grandparents passed away and he was alone to run the house. In order to make ends meet, he had to start working at an early age.

• Most of his childhood days were spent visiting police stations and judicial courts for the on going cases and complaints on his parents.

• As his singing career is not doing well as much, the source of income has been Jaiman’s parents’ savings along with royalties that he receives for his parents’ songs.

• At the age of 24, Jaiman started taking classes for the Banjo instrument from ‘Ustaad Bittu’ who also taught him a little bit about singing. He then started taking singing training from ‘Ustaad Balloo’ in Ludhiana.

• Jaiman met his wife Riya for the first time at the music centre of Ustaad Bittu where he used to go to learn singing. Riya was also a student there. They dated for a while before getting married.

• In 2017, Jaiman recreated his parents’ Punjabi song titled ‘Kan Kar Gall Sun’ which was sung by Jaiman and his wife Riya Sandhu.
