Some Lesser Known Facts About Himanshu Sharma
- Himanshu started playing cricket at 17 in Sikar, but due to a lack of facilities, he moved to Jaipur, where he began practising at the Jaipuria Cricket Academy.
- During his early days, Himanshu wanted to become a batter, but he decided to switch to spin bowling because he could not afford the cricket equipment.
- Himanshu’s father played volleyball for Rajasthan at the state level.
- Himanshu always aspired to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and has supported the team since the beginning of the IPL in 2008.
- Himanshu had never played cricket at any competitive level before being selected for the IPL.
- Himanshu as a leg spinner always considered Shane Warne as his idol.
- Himanshu was picked by RCB’s Head of Scouting, Malolan Rangarajan ahead of the IPL 2023. He was first sighted by the RCB scouting team as part of their “Hinterland Scouting” system which uses Artificial Intelligence to pick talents from several little-known areas of the country.
