- At nine years old, Sriram Balaji started tennis training at the Perks Sports Academy – Tennis Courts in Coimbatore.
- In 2002, he represented India in the Nike Junior Tour (NJT) International Masters in Sun City, South Africa and secured ninth position in the team event category.
- In 2004, he was ranked first in the nation by the All India Tennis Association (AITA) in the under-14 category.
- In 2004, he represented India and secured 11th position at the Asia/ Oceania qualifying team event for the World Junior Tennis (WJT) Competition in Melbourne, Australia.
