Some Lesser Known Facts About Akash Banerjee

  • Akash considers himself to be a political satirist and uploads satirical commentary on trending political and environmental topics on his YouTube channel. He also uses a caricature personality called, “Bhakt Banerjee” to comment on certain topics.
  • While Akash was still pursuing his master’s degree in Delhi, he worked as a Radio Jockey for Radio Mirchi. He was part of the core team that set up Radio Mirchi in Delhi and worked as a producer and RJ for the late-night show, DCH.
  • In 2005, Akash went on to work for Times Now as an Anchor before joining India Today as a senior correspondent in 2007.
  • Working for India Toady, Akash covered news stories like the 26/11 Mumbai bomb blasts, Maoist terror in Dantewada and other Naxal insurgencies, and many others.
  • Akash felt disappointed in the journalism done on the national news channel and feeling disillusioned by TV journalism he left India Today in 2012 and moved back to Radio Mirchi.
  • In the span of 5 years that Akash worked with Radio Mirch for 2 years he acted as the Vice President as well. Working as the VP at one of  India’s biggest and most listened-to Radio Networks he mentored a team of 100+ radio professionals across fifteen radio stations that spanned from Srinagar to Shillong.
