• Mumbai Indians (MI) scouts first spotted him during the 2024 Sher-e-Punjab Trophy, where they were impressed by his ability to bowl wide yorkers in death overs.

• Former cricketer Sanvir Singh claimed that he talked to Ashwani Kumar before the tournament when Kumar told him that 3 wickets under 30 runs would have been his dream debut in the IPL.

• Ashwani Kumar said after the match that he was tense before the match, did not eat the meal and had only one banana.
