Some Lesser Known Facts About Sonam Raghuvanshi

• Sonam Raghuvanshi was born in a wealthy family from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She completed her graduation and planned to study MBA, but later joined her family business due to financial issues.

• She married Raja Raghuvanshi in 2025. On 20 May 2025, the couple went to Meghalaya for their honeymoon trip.

• On 23 May 2025, Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered near Wei Sawdong Falls in Meghalaya. Police say the murder was pre-planned and not an accident.

• Police investigations revealed that Sonam paid ₹50,000 to her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha to plan her husband’s murder with the help of three other people.

• On the day of the murder, Sonam and Raja went to the falls, where he was pushed into the deep valley. After the incident, Sonam returned to Indore secretly and then went to UP.

• Police launched a search operation in multiple states to trace her location. On 9 June 2025, police found Sonam at a roadside dhaba in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. She was alone and reportedly trying to stay hidden.

• She was arrested by Meghalaya Police on the same day, 9 June, and taken back to Shillong for detailed interrogation and further legal process.

• Police also arrested Raj Kushwaha, who worked in Sonam’s brother’s firm. He is suspected to be her lover and the main person behind the murder planning.

• Her father denied her involvement and demanded a CBI inquiry, while Raja’s mother demanded that Sonam be hanged for the brutal murder of her son.

• After her arrest, she revealed that she did not want to have a physical relationship with Raja and forced him to visit Kamakhya Temple in Assam before the Meghalaya trip. She told him she had taken a vow.

• However, she did not get intimate with him even after they visited the temple.

• Meghalaya police later claimed that Raja was killed in front of her, and she pushed him into the gorge.

• Some media reports also alleged that her cousin, Jitendra Raghuvanshi, knew about her relationship with Raj Kushwaha and provided her with money and other support.

• On 12 June 2025, the local court sentenced her and five other accused to 8 days of judicial custody.
