After the incident, journalist Sean Ross Sapp explained that while the match was scripted, Raja Jackson’s punches and Smith’s injuries were real and not planned. Sapp said,

Raja Jackson’s father, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, posted on X about the situation. He confirmed that Smith was awake and stable. He apologised on behalf of his son, Raja Jackson.

Quinton explained that Raja Jackson was unexpectedly hit in the head just before the match. He added that Raja was told he could get ‘payback’ during the match. He said,
I thought it was part of the show. It was bad judgment and a work that went wrong.”
Quinton added that Raja was an MMA fighter, not a professional wrestler and should not have taken part in the wrestling match. He said,
I do not condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact. As a father, im deeply concerned with his health AND the well-being of Mr. Smith.”
