Controversy | Arrested for fraud accusations On 7 April 2024, Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, reported a burglary at their Maryland home while they were in Jamaica. They claimed several designer bags and jewelry items worth $450,000 were stolen and submitted three insurance claims for the loss. Investigators later found that many items listed as stolen had been purchased and returned to stores for refunds before the reported burglary. They also noted that Osefo’s home alarm had not gone off and her Ring camera had not captured any activity during the alleged break-in. On 27 April 2024, Wendy Osefo posted a photo wearing a ring she had reported stolen in the burglary. Following the investigation, both Wendy and Eddie Osefo were indicted in Carroll County, Maryland, on 9 October 2025. Wendy Osefo was charged with seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of giving a false statement to police. She faces a total of 16 charges, with most felony counts carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. After the indictment, Bravo delayed the premiere of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, where Wendy and Eddie were set to appear in the first episode. Their episode was replaced with one featuring Angie Katsanevas from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Wendy Osefo’s spokesperson confirmed that she and her husband were home and cooperating with legal authorities. The couple is scheduled to appear in court on 7 November 2025. |
