Poduval was booked by the Kalamassery police for drunk driving and overspeeding on the national highway between Angamaly and Kalamassery. His car was seen being driven at high speed and changing lanes dangerously, even after police tried to stop it at Athani and Aluva. The vehicle was eventually intercepted in Kalamassery, where officers confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol. A case was registered, and Ganapathi was arrested.
