  • During her studies at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khasla College in Delhi, Akshita Dhankar joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
  • After that, she was promoted to the rank of Cadet Sergeant Major (CSM) and became known for her leadership and discipline skills.
  • Akshita Dhankar then decided to fulfil her dream of joining the Indian Air Force (IAF).
  • She then cleared the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and received a recommendation from the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), Mysore.
  • On 17 June 2023, she was commissioned as a Flying Officer in the Administration branch (M AFCAT W-551 entry). She received the service number 38704 ADM as part of the 211 Short Service Commission (Women) Ground Duty Course.
  • After three years, she was promoted to the position of a Flight Lieutenant.

    I feel honoured. We’ve been practising for more than two months. The practice has been rigorous. We’ve been waking up early. We’ve been going home late. I think in the end, it is all worth it. I feel this is what the armed forces stand for- courage, unity, and determination.”
