E.A. Rajendran was born and raised in Engor Tharavat, district Thrissur, Kerala.

Since childhood, he had showed interest in acting. During his school time, he actively participated in drama performances associated with the school literary society.

After completing his school, he moved to New Delhi and joined National School of Drama, where he completed his graduation with rank 1.

After that, he joined Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

In 1980, Rajendran made his film debut with V.R. Gopinath’s film Greeshmam. However, he did not get any other opportunities in the film industry.

At FTI, he met his wife, Sandhya, who was also pursuing her acting diploma there. Soon they got married.

After his marriage, E.A. Rajendran moved to Kollam, and joined his father-in-law, O. Madhavan’s theatre, Kalidasa Kalakendram, as an artist.

In 1987, one of his plays based on a Russian novel won the State Government Award for best play.

In 1990, Rajendran became the in-charge of Kalidasa Kalakendram.

For the next a decade, Rajendran and his wife were the main actors of Kalidasa Kalakendram.

In 1997, he returned to film industry with Kaliyattam.

Over the years, he appeared in more than 60 Malayalam films, where he potrayed a variety of characters, including villains and strong supporting roles. His natural acting style made him a familiar face to audiences across different formats.

Beyond acting and direction, Rajendran also served as Chairman of the State Horticulture Corporation.
- On 26 March 2026, E.A. Rajendran passed away after battling with prolonged illness. He died at his residence in Pattathanam, Kollam.
