  • Bhupinder is a third-generation army officer of his family.
  • Colonel has served in the Indian army from 1991 to 2017.
  • In 1991, Sahi was commissioned into the 15th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
  • During his army career, Shahi served for over two decades in most challenging operational environements including counter-insurgency operations in Kashmir, deployments in Ladakh and Kargil, two tours on the Siachen Glacier, and a tenure with the elite National Security Guard for anti-terrorism duties.
  • In an interview, Bhupinder Shahi mentioned that during his posting at JAKRIF Centre in Jabalpur, Martyred Captain Vikram Batra was under him, where Shahi was a company commander.

I was asked to provide assistance to the makers of the movie Shershah which was on the life of Capt Vikram Batra of Kargil fame. Incidentally, Vikram served was under me in JAKRIF Centre in Jabalpur where I was a company commander.”

After Shershah became a hit I started getting offers by word of mouth. I have worked with directors like Nikhil Advani, Ram Madhwani and movie houses like Dharma Productions, Colour Yellow Productions etc.”

The scenes which involve the military must look authentic and realistic.”

  • In the film, Bhupinder Shahi’s work was to get permissions from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, and coordinating the use of MI-17 and Cheetah helicopters for film scenes.
