• Subashini Balasubramaniyam was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

• She was interested in media and television even in her childhood and became a member of the broadcasting sphere at a tender age.

• She started her career as a television presenter in 2008 in Nethra TV of the Sri Lanka. Broadcasting Corporation and worked there until 2009.

• Between 2009 and 2011, she held a position of programme producer and presenter with MTV Channel Pvt Ltd also referred to as Shakthi TV.

• In July 2013, she joined Vasantham TV as an anchor in Battaramulla where she stayed till the year 2018.

• In 2014 and 2015, she was a programme presenter at Carlton Sports Network and at the same time programme presenter at CCF TV Sri Lanka in the same years.

• She was employed as Group Director, Abzolute Infinity Pvt Ltd, between 2014 and 2016, and on 23 October 2016 joined the Ministry of Tourism Sri Lanka in Colombo as a promoter.

• To shoot her schedules, she rented a flat in Ayyappanthangal close to Porur in Chennai where she spent her time during the shoots.

• She got into Chennai on 3 April 2026 to shoot. According to the police sources, Subashini had made a video call to her husband in Bengaluru on the evening of 5 April 2026.

• During the call, the couple had an argument over an issue. During the conversation, she entered the bedroom and the video call was still running when she tried to commit suicide and hanged.

• Bipin Chandran was present during the incidence and called the police in Porur and they were informed about the incident.

• The police officers arrived at the apartment according to the details provided by the husband and forced the door open and entered the flat.

• The officers felled her and took her to hospital where doctors found her dead on arrival. Later, the body was sent to postmortem examination by authorities.

• Police started an investigation to find out whether family disputes or other pressures led to the death. Her cell phone was confiscated and officers accessed call history and messaging.

• Investigators were also going to interrogate Bipin Chandran in order to know what was discussed during the video call.
