ControversiesVideos criticising Lee Kuan Yew

Singapore's first Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, passed away on 23 March 2015. Four days later, Yee released Lee Kuan Yew is Finally Dead, where he labeled Lee as a horrible person, an awful leader and a dictator and compared him to Jesus. He also asked Lee's son, Lee Hsien Loong, who was the country's prime minister to sue him. The video crossed 880,000 views by April 2015. He posted it against his mother's wishes and later clarified in court that he lashed out on Lee and Christianity in order to raise public debate about what he sees as their shortcomings. Yee was arrested on 29 March 2015 on charges of intentionally wounding religious feelings, insulting communication and obscenity. Thirty-two police reports were filed over his video and another over an obscene image on his blog. His mother also made a report, stating that she was unable to manage his behaviour. Three charges were read out in court on 31 March. The first was for wounding the religious feelings, under Section 298 of the Penal Code. The second, which was later found to be nolle prosequi, was for harassment allegations under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014 against Lee. The third was about the obscene image under Section 292 of the Penal Code. The court allow him bail of S$20,000 and the posting of his online content was not allowed.

Hurting religious feelings

While on bail, Yee made online public calls for funds on 14th April and was remanded in Changi Prison from 17 to 21 April. Youth counsellor Vincent Law was able to get him off. He was offered free legal representation by three lawyers: Alfred Dodwell, Chong Jia Hao and Ervin Tan. Yee defied his bail twice with his posts on 29 April, the first of which he sent questioning his bail terms, while the second he sent accusing his father of physically abusing him. The court again remanded him but raised bail to S$30,000. Law was rejected by Yee, discharged himself and a High Court judge subsequently upheld the bail conditions. The trial began on 12 May 2015. Yee denied the charges. In the defence case, it was stated that the scandalous image was not pornographic and that the prosecution failed to demonstrate its corrupting effects. Yee was convicted of the two charges. Judge Jasvender Kaur told the court that his remark was "offensive and derogatory" to Christians and the image was "the strongest disapproval". Yee requested that he be incarcerated in lieu of probation. There was a candlelit vigil at Hong Lim Park a day before the verdict, which attracted dozens of attendees for Yee. The court lowered the bail to $10,000, lifted the ban on the web content with condition that there was to be removal and postponed sentencing for a probation report. Yee did as he was told, however and then re-uploaded the content on 21 May.

Content against Islam and Christianity

Yee uploaded a video, criticizing the People's Action Party, on 9 September 2015, without any arrest taking place. He offended Islam with offensive comments in November 2015, resulting in a police investigation in December. He also did a video series on YouTube called Religion Horrors with videos against Islam and Christianity. Yee was arrested for a second time 11 May 2016 over his posts that were designed to offend religious sentiments and for not turning himself in to a police station. The court sentencing him to six weeks' jail and $2,000 fine for the charge took place on 29 September 2016. He served on the sentence since 13 October.

Creating pro-pedophilia videos

In an interview in September 2019, Yee revealed that during his nine-month break from the internet, he had created pro-paedophile videos. He was arrested at his Chicago apartment on 16 October 2020 by the Marshals Service for the charges of solicitation and possession of child pornography. He had sent messages and nude photos to a 14-year-old Texas girl on WhatsApp from February to June 2019, authorities found. Bail was set at $1 million U.S. dollars. In August 2020, Yee announced his diagnosis with narcissistic personality disorder in an immigrant detention center and his plan to return to the name Polocle in his blog. At the end of 2021, Yee pleaded guilty to two charges of child grooming and child pornography to receive a 6-year sentence and the dismissal of 16 additional charges. The sentence was backdated to the time of his arrest to be effective as of 8 October 2026. The court also issued him a warning of deportation and revocation of his American citizenship. Yee was released to parole on 7 October 2023. He was placed with other sex offenders. He wrote a blog on the 23rd October reaffirming that paedophilia is acceptable and explaining his intention to commit to more offences. He then released another post on 5th November indicating that he was going to defend paedophiles publicly. He was re-arrested 8 November for parole violations and moved to the Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois, a maximum security facility. On 12 December 2023, he was moved to the medium security Danville Correctional Center. He was released once more on 7 November 2025, but was re-arrested shortly after on the same day for another parole breach. Yee was scheduled to be deported to Singapore on 20 November 2025. He was detained on 24 November in an ICE detention facility. The military stated on Monday he will face charges under the Enlistment Act for failing to pay compulsory national service and face up to a three-year jail sentence and a fine of up to S$10,000. The authorities sent Yee back to Singapore on 19 March 2026. He was arrested the next day by enlistment officers and three charges were read to him under the Enlistment Act. His mother made a bail of S$10,000 and he was released from the court on 26 March.
