Some Lesser Known Facts About Sudhir Sangwan

• Sudhir Sangwan is an Indian lawyer who is known for being the personal assistant (PA) of the Indian TikTok star and politician Sonali Phogat. He is one of the suspects in the Sonali Phogat murder case.

• Sangwan is a member of the Gohana Bar Association. ^[7]Aaj Tak

• After the completion of his LLB degree, he started practising as a lawyer in Gohana. Later, he left his practice and started a poultry farm near his village. However, his poultry farm did not work well.

• Thereafter, Sudhir started working as a middleman to provide subsidies to the poly house farmers.

• He has also worked as a contractor for a while.

• Sudhir Sangwan came in contact with Sonali Phogat during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections through a man (who had links with many film actors and artists) from Gagdwas village in the Bhiwani district.

• Soon, he started working with Sonali as his personal assistant (PA). Sudhir initially worked in the background for around four-five months and later came out in the public and started assisting Sonali Phogat in the election campaigns during the 2019 Legislative Assembly Elections; Sonali Phogat contested the elections from the Adampur assembly seat on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

• While working as Sonali’s personal secretary, Sangwan first visited Sonali’s house as a guest, and gradually, made Phogat’s house his permanent home. During a media conversation, while revealing the same, one of Sonali’s relatives said,
  

  One day I got a call from Sonali. She said that a guest from Australia has come to the house. He is a lawyer and I should go and meet him. When I reached Sonali’s house, Sudhir was walking in Capri. After a day, he left. After a week, Sudhir came again and stayed at Sonali’s house for 7 days. Gradually, he made Sonali’s house a permanent home. Within a month, Sudhir understood who is close to Sonali in the family.”

• Sudhir not only helped her during election campaigns but he also arranged luxury rides for Sonali during the elections. Some of the luxury vehicles that Sudhir arranged for Sonali include Mercedes, Ford Endeavor, and Skoda car.

• Before Sonali’s demise, Sudhir had a strong hold over Sonali’s personal things like the keys of her farmhouse and flat, her ATM car, her financial assets, and even her mobile phone. It was Sudhir who decided whom Sonali would meet and who could enter her house.

• In 2022, Sudhir took a flat on rent at Gurgaon Greens society located in Sector 102 of Gurugram and while doing the documentation work for it, he mentioned Sonali Phogat as his wife. ^[8]Bollywood Life

• Some sources close to Sudhir and Sonali revealed to the media that he preferred staying close to the political personalities. ^[9]ABP News

• Sudhir once introduced Sukhwinder Singh to Sonali Phogat saying that he would look after her performances and fetch her work in Goa.

• On 22 August 2022, Sonali was found dead in Goa under mysterious circumstances. Initially, it was said that she died of a heart attack. However, her autopsy revealed that she had many injuries on her body. Soon after, the post-mortem report came, and her family alleged that Sonali was raped by two men.

• When the police started investigating the case, they came across three CCTV videos that hinted at Sudhir’s involvement in Sonali’s murder. The first video clip was from the Curlies restaurant in Goa where Sudhir was seen handling Sonali as she could not walk properly. Further, in the video Sudhir and his associate Sukhwinder Singh could be seen taking Sonali to the washroom, where they stayed for around two hours.

  The second video is a 36 seconds clip of a disco where Sonali Phogat could be seen dancing with both, Sukhwinder Singh and Sudhir Sangwan. However, it appeared in the video that Sonali was not very comfortable with Singh and was trying to get away from him. Sudhir was also present there.

  In the third video, Sudhir can be seen forcibly giving something to Sonali through a bottle, which she was resisting.

  After coming across the videos, the Goa police took Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh under their arrest.

• As per the officials of the Goa police, during the interrogation, Sudhir and Sukhwinder had confessed to giving methamphetamine chemical to Sonali Phogat forcibly by mixing it in water. They further revealed that her health deteriorated after its consumption and then they took her to the washroom. During a media conversation, while describing the events of that (Sonali’s murder) night, the Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi, said,
  

  After reaching Goa, Sudhir along with Sukhwinder took Sonali Phogat to Curlie’s restaurant in North Goa on the pretext of partying and he (Sangwan) mixed some obnoxious substance in drinking water and forced Sonali to drink it. After drinking the water she felt uneasy and sick in the restaurant. Later she was taken by Sangwan and Sukhwinder to hotel, where they were staying and then to St Antony’s hospital, Anjuna where she was declared brought dead.”

• Some of Sonali’s relatives and close friends revealed during a media conversation that Sonali used to take each of her decision after consulting Sudhir. He had controlled her life so badly that even her family members couldn’t meet her or reach out to her without Sudhir’s consent.
