• Ashok Kumar Panda was born and raised in Berhampur, Odisha.

• In 1992, Ashok joined Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) as a Management Trainee (Technical) after completing his bachelor of technology degree in Electrical Engineering.

• While working at SAIL, he continued pursuing his higher education and completed a full-time Post Graduate Diploma of Management in Finance from Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar and later earned a Ph.D degree in Business Finance.

• In the early 2000s, he served in various positions including finance, operations, and commercial positions across SAIL plants and units including Bhilai and Rourkela, where he gained experience in costing, budgeting, treasury operations, taxation, project finance, and strategic management.

• He was also the runner-up in the Chairman’s Trophy for Young Managers highlighting his leadership and problem-solving skills.

• In 2010, Ashok became Executive Director of Finance in SAIL. In the same year, he also served on the boards of SAIL joint ventures companies such as Nominee Director on the board of NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited and International Coal Ventures Private Limited (ICVL), a joint venture of SAIL.

• In 2012, Panda received the Jawahar Award for Excellence in Cost Management for his contribution in improving efficiency and reducing costs within SAIL operations.
