Some Lesser Known Facts About Ebrahim Raisi
- When Raisi was five years old, Raisi’s father passed away. When he became 15 years old, he entered Qom Seminary.
- Ebrahim Raisi was an Iranian Cleric and the custodian and chairman of Astan Quds Razavi (a wealthy and powerful foundation or bonyad).
- In the 1980s and 90s, Raisi was also Prosecutor and Deputy Prosecutor of Tehran.
- He served as Deputy Chief Justice of Iran from 2004 to 2014.
- In 2006 for the first time, he was elected to Assembly of Experts from South Khorasan Province.
- From 2014 to 2016, he has served as Attorney General of Iran.
- Raisi was named as one of the four persons involved in the 1988 executions by Hussein-Ali Montazeri.
- He was one of the supporters of Sex segregation. He said in a 2014 interview,
I think this is a good move because the majority of women do a better job in a totally relaxed atmosphere and fit are required.”
