  • Abdullah was 3 years old when he started playing cricket. His father recognized his cricketing talent when he saw his son doing shadow practice with his plastic bat at such a young age.
  • Abdullah’s professional cricket journey started when his father made him join Sialkot’s Late Amir Waseem Academy in Punjab.
  • Abdullah’s father is a cricket coach who has been coaching since 2003 at the GEMS Modern Academy school in Dubai.
  • Although not initially, Abdullah developed an interest in cricket because of his uncle who used to take him to cricket practice.
  • At 16, Abdullah scored 2 centuries in his first season of Pakistan’s domestic under-19 tournament which led to his selection for the Pakistan under-19 team.
  • The former Pakistani player and manager, Mansoor Rana, spotted Abdullah’s talent and selected him for the Under 19s.
  • In the 2018 Pakistan Super League player’s draft, Abdullah was bought by Multan Sultans in November 2017.

  • Abdullah made his first-class debut in December 2019 for Central Punjab in the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy against Southern Punjab. He scored 133 runs on his debut.
  • While playing for Central Punjab, Abdullah made his T20 debut in September 2020 in the 2020–21 National T20 Cup. He scored a century in the match and remained not out on 102 runs.
  • Abdullah’s T20 international career took a blow when he was dismissed for 4 consecutive ducks. Two dismissals were against New Zealand in 2020 and the remaining against Afghanistan in 2023.
  • Abdullah’s father once stated in an interview that he does not watch his son play live in a cricket match as it makes him nervous. He prefers to watch highlights of the match afterwards.

  • Abdullah made his World Cup debut in October 2023 in the 2023 ICC ODI Cricket World Cup against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad, India. He scored 113 off 103 balls in the match and helped his team break the record for the highest successful run chase in a World Cup match.
