Ann Kaplan Mulholland was raised by her stepfather, Don Ho, in British Columbia, Canada. She met her biological father, Berne Hal-Mann, at the age of 17.

Her mother later remarried a dentist named Richard Roseborough.

She once brought a girl to Canada from Ethiopia for life-saving surgery and adopted her.

She has 17 siblings overall from the mean her mother married.

During her teenage years, she competed in the lightweight category as a bodybuilder and even finished second in the two provincial tournaments.

She once started the Honolulu marathon, but quit after 3 miles.

She had 2 children from her first husband, but he left when the children were 21 months and 9 months old.

She later started working, and her first job was in interior design when she took care of her children during the day and visited job sites at night.

At the time, the Canadian government was changing the medical systems, so she saw an opportunity and started her medical finance company named iFinance.

323 banks turned down her loan application before the Bank of Montreal approved her first $5 million (£2.8m) loan. She further got a $140 million (£79 million) loan from various other sources.

She never told anyone that she was a single mother but kept working and made it into a $2 billion company before selling it in 2022.
