Some Lesser Known Facts About Asifa Mengal

  • Asifa Mengal joined the Majeed Brigade of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on her 21st birthday in October 2023.

  • In January 2024, she chose to become a “fidayee” (suicide attacker). After that, she underwent specialised training.

  • In February 2026, Asifa Mengal made headlines when the BLA claimed that she targeted the ISI headquarters in Nushki, Pakistan, on 31 January 2026.

  • She used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED).
  • Reportedly, the attack killed nearly 50 people, which included at least 17 security personnel.

  • BLA claimed that Asifa Mengal committed to being a “fidayeen” in 2025 and was ready for a suicide mission.

  • She was a part of Operation Herof Phase II, also known as Black Storm. It was a big coordinated attack, which targeted many military locations and personnel across Balochistan.

  • That same day, another suicide bomber, Hawa Baloch, targeted the Gwadar Front during BLA’s Operation Herof Phase II.

  • After the attack, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) shared images of Asifa Mengal on social media in terrorist attire to make her a known figure.
