• Barbara considers herself to be a love, lesbian, and fat acceptance activist.

• Barbara was born and grew up in a traditional Jewish household.

• Barbara’s mother was an Ashkenazi Jewish while her father was of a Moroccan heritage. Her mother is a secretary and her father is a house painter.

• Just like her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, Barbara was born in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, while she grew up in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

• The Eclaireuses et Eclaireurs israélites de France, a Jewish Guides and Scouts of France played an important and key part in her life in her childhood. In the latter part of her teenage, she started attending lesbian parties at Pulp, a leading Parisian club.

• Barbara was 18 when she came out as a lesbian to her family, and she reported having an abusive first relationship with a woman, which inspired her activism to this day. She says
  

  I’m a fat, Jewish, queer lesbian, and I’m really proud of all my identities, because they make me what I am now as a human. All the violence and negativity I’ve experienced, I can make it something bigger to help others go forward with a lot of love.”

• In her teen years, Barbara studied music theory and learned instruments like guitar, piano, and Brazilian percussion. As a teen, she also started creating her own mixtapes and recorded cassettes.

• Barbara tried to run a restaurant named L’Arrosoir in Montpellier, Paris. She used this restaurant as a launch pad for her career as a disk jockey. barbara used to perform under the pseudonym “Scratcheuse de gazon” before moving on to use her real name.

• Barbara returned to Paris and began performing in little bars in the capital city such as Les Souffleurs and Le Raymond. As of 2024, she plays at Rosa Bonheur, where she is currently a resident artist and the Machine du Moulin Rouge.
