  • Betta Naan Stop, also known as Prateek Sachdeva, is an Indian drag queen (a person mainly male, who is dressed up as a female in an exaggerated form), dancer, and model who has gained recognition for her captivating performances at the renowned Queer nightlife club chain Kitty Su, which is part of the Lalit Group.
  • When she is dressed up as a female, she uses the pronouns she/her. Whereas, when she is dressed up as Prateek, she uses the pronouns his/him.

  • From a very young age, Betta’s passion for dancing started. She started her journey as a dancer by providing private dance classes to the students in her local area.
  • In May 2014, Betta joined Ashley Lobo’s dance school, The Danceworx Performing Arts, in New Delhi, as a dance instructor. Her talent was recognized there, and she was awarded a scholarship by the dance school to pursue further dance training in Melbourne, where she specialised in musical theatre. During her time in Melbourne, she underwent training in various dance forms, including ballet, jazz, and contemporary.

  • Betta Naan Stop aka Prateek Sachdeva, came to know about the drag culture during one of his trips to Australia where she attended her first drag show. There she met a drag queen named Penny Silon, who left an impact on Betta.
  • After returning to India, she attended a drag queen event at Kitty Su Delhi’s sixth-anniversary celebration. Inspired by a performance from the renowned drag queen Violet Chachki, she decided to start her career as a drag queen. With encouragement from her sister, she began to explore makeup techniques and also drew inspiration from films like “Paris Is Burning” and the TV series “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
  • Gradually, she started experiencing with her drag looks. For the first time, she performed as a drag queen at a sex-education workshop at St. Columbus School in Delhi, and she received a good response from the audience.
  • Betta Naan Stop then wrote a piece on drag for Youthkiawaaz, which caught the attention of Keshav Suri, who invited her to perform at Kitty Su. After which he officially started performing as Betta Naan Stop.
  • In an interview, while talking about her earlier life, she revealed that she had been an introvert child and had never considered herself gay. However, she had a secret inclination towards female dresses and makeup.
  • Throughout her journey, she had the support of her family, particularly her mother and elder sister. Despite facing challenges with some extended family members who held different views, she remained true to herself and focused on her passion for drag.
  • In 2017, she performed for the first time at a queer workshop in Delhi, where she danced to Ariana Grande’s song “Greedy.” In an interview, she shared that at the beginning of her career, she was dissatisfied with the lack of opportunities as a male dancer, she even did a few corporate jobs and worked at a call centre for a brief period.
  • Through her drag performances, Betta Naan Stop aimed to use the platform for the betterment of society. She encourages people to fell proud of their true selves and not be ashamed of their sexual orientation.

  • Betta Naan Stop holds a special bond with the drag queen Lush Monsoon, considering her as her drag sister. Additionally, she is inspired by the work of Indian drag queens Sushant Divgikar (Rani KoHEnur) and Maya.
