Some Lesser Known Facts About Bijou Thaangjam
- Bijou Thaangjam grew up in a family of carpenters, handloom weavers, and handicraft artisans in Imphal.
- When he was 3 years old, he played the role of an 80-year-old man in a play. The praise and applause he received for his performance made him interested in acting.
- During his school days, he was inclined towards arts and music.
- In 2004, Bijou moved to Bengaluru from Manipur to pursue a degree in Biotechnology. He decided to become an actor and take performing arts seriously when he saw a play in his 2nd year; Bijou earned the gold medal for his Biotechnology degree.
- In 2008, he shifted from Bengaluru to Pune, where he attended various acting workshops and performed in many theatrical productions. He once even applied to the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, but could not get selected.
- Bijou once hosted a housewarming party, where a guest unexpectedly showed up and turned out to be a casting director for the reality show ‘MasterChef India.’ The casting director liked Bijou’s cooking and signed him up as a contestant for ‘MasterChef India 2’ without asking him.
- In 2012, he moved from Pune to Mumbai to try his luck in the entertainment industry.
- His first project as an actor was with the American actor and musician Jared Leto. It was produced by MTV Asia and released in over 9 countries.
- He has appeared in some television series such as MTV India’s ‘Traffic’ (2014) and Colors TV’s ‘Code Red’ (2015).
