- After completing his post-graduation, in 1999, in the field of History, Boria Majumdar was awarded a scholarship under the Rhodes scholarship programme, under the programme, he completed his Doctorate of Philosophy (DPhil) in Social History of Indian Cricket in October 2000.
- Boria Majumdar completed his doctorate in 2004, and his thesis titled, Twenty-Two Yards to Freedom: A Social History of Indian Cricket, was nominated for publication in the Oxford monographs series.
