• Debraj’s political career began with working as a close associate to former West Bengal minister Purnendu Basu in the Rajarhat-Gopalpur region.

• In 2015, he left TMC over a dispute regarding the party ticket and later joined the Indian National Congress and contested the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation election.

• In 2015, civic elections he contested from Ward No. 7 of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.

• During the time of election, she was arrested in connection with alleged poll-day violence. Despite being in custody, he won the elections.

• He later, eventually returned to Trinamool Congress, which was tittled as “ghar wapasi”. Later he served as a Councilor in the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.
