Some Lesser Known Facts About C. Aswani Dutt
- C. Aswani Dutt grew up in a well-to-do family.
- The Indian film producer Jandhyala has been his friend since childhood. They were neighbours and were classmates from school till college.
- He started his career as an executive producer. At that time, he was a huge fan of the South Indian actor N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) and wanted to cast NTR in his film.
- In 1974, Aswini started a film production house ‘Vyjayanthi Movies;’ inaugurated by NTR. The name Vyjayanthi was given by NTR, and the name was derived from the garland worn by Lord Krishna.
- Under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies, he produced many Telugu films like ‘Guru Sishyulu’ (1981), ‘Aakhari Poratam’ (1988), ‘Rajakumarudu’ (1999), ‘Sainikudu’ (2006), and ‘Kathanayakudu’ (2008).
- He has produced films in collaboration with a few other film production houses. Some of such films are ‘Jaani Dost’ (Hindi; 1983), ‘Subhalagnam’ (1994; Telugu), ‘Mere Sapno Ki Rani’ (Hindi; 1997), and ‘Ninaithen Vandhai’ (Tamil; 1998).
- Under the film production banner ‘Swapna Cinema,’ Aswani, along with his daughters, produced a few Telugu films like ‘Student No.1’ (2001), ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ (2015), ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ (2021), ‘Sita Ramam’ (2022), and ‘Anni Manchi Sakunamule’ (2023).
