To his surprise, on the same day, he received a call from Adeep Chopra, an assistant director at Yash Raj Films, notifying him that he had been selected to play the part of a cyber chat boy in the film ‘Fan.’ The film was to be directed by Maneesh Sharma, who had previously rejected him for the role in ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.’ Upon reaching the set of ‘Fan,’ he was handed a script that included his name along with another character named Gaurav. When he inquired about Gaurav’s role, he was informed that it was going to be played by none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself. Throughout the film’s production, Shah Rukh Khan praised Kalra’s Delhi swag and even acknowledged that it served as an inspiration to him for his character in the film.
