- He was born and brought up in Nindana Village, Maham (Rohtak), Haryana, India.
- Deepak Nehra grew up in poverty. His father, Surinder Singh Nehra, was a peasant, who studied till 12th standard, while his mother, Mukesh Kumari, is a homemaker, who studied till 10th standard. According to Deepak, the family didn’t have any television set, and the neighbours would often inform the family about Deepak’s win/loss in any competition.
- Since childhood, Deepak Nehra was interested in outdoor activities, When he turned five years old, his father sent him to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Academy in Mirchpur village, Hisar to learn the tactics of wrestling.
- In 2021, he won bronze in the 97 kg category at the Junior World Wrestling Championship for which his coach Ajay Dhanda and Jai Bhagwan Lather rewarded him with Rs 51 thousand.
