Some Lesser Known Facts About Divya T. S.

  • Since she was a kid, Divya dreamed of becoming a pro volleyball player and practised hard for it.
  • In 2016, she got hurt in an accident and couldn’t pursue her dream anymore. After the accident, Divya’s brother convinced her to try shooting.
  • In 2016, Divya started doing sports shooting and learned from Manjunath Patagar.
  • She got many medals in the 10m air pistol and 25m sports pistol events at State championships.
  • In 2022, she went to the 65th National Shooting Championship at the MP Academy Shooting Range in Bhopal and won.
  • After that, Divya got second place in the Indian team selection and trials, scoring 574 in the 10m Air pistol event.

  • In 2023, Divya ended a streak of finishing 5th three times in a row by winning gold at the ISSF shooting World Cup in Baku. She won in the 10m air pistol mixed team final event, partnering with Sarabjot Singh.

  • After winning multiple medals in September 2023 at the 2022 Asian Games, during and interview, Divya disscussed goals for her hooting career and sai,

    Next year is a big year. Working consistently and getting there (Paris) is very important. I’m trying to qualify and I’m preparing my best. We have very good, supporting coaches here. I’m very thankful to everybody who has supported my journey so far.”

  • During an interview, Divya talked about facing many financial problems in the beginning of her shooting career. She said,

     My family is currently helping me. I intend to compete seriously in the 25m and 50m events this year, but the equipment, training, and competition costs are high. I utilise the rifle association’s shared weapon since I don’t own one. I recently received my all-India licence, allowing me to buy and import my own weapons and ammo.”

  • On March 19, 2022, Divya T. S. had a big accident and got a serious head injury needing 12 stitches.
  • Even with her injury and blurry vision, she went for her first trial for the ISSF World Cup in Rio de Janeiro on March 21, 2022, and her second trial on March 23, 2023.
