Since a young age, he was a part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In 1975, he took part in the Total Revolution movement started by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan

In 1977, he was appointed as the Convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (A.B.V.P.) for the District Sagar in Madhya Pradesh and remained for 2 years.
