- In 2004, he took up Hockey as a career at the age of eleven.
- For a few months, he took his initial training at the Gopal Hockey Academy in Kurali, Punjab.
- At one point, he was about to quit the sport because of his family’s financial constraint.
- However, his stellar performances in the local league led him to sail through all the odds.
- Then, in 2008, Harjeet joined the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar, which is famous for producing quality Hockey players in the country; the testimony of the fact is that 10 out of the 18-member Indian Hockey Junior World Cup Squad (2016) were from this academy.
- Harjeet gives the credit behind his success to Patwari Sohan Singh Lal and his coach Amrutpal Singh.
- In 2015, the Delhi Waveriders picked him to play in the Hockey India League (HIL).
- With his stellar performance throughout the tournament, he bagged the ‘Jugraj Singh Upcoming Player of the Year’ award.
- Harjeet got the opportunity to garner some experience at the FIH Champions Trophy 2015 in London by filling the shoes of Sardar Singh who was facing a personal controversy and was rested for the tournament.
- In 2016, Harjeet also got the chance to be featured in the Sultan Azlan Shah Tournament.
- Soon, Harjeet Singh was named the captain of the Indian Men’s Junior Hockey squad.
- Under his captaincy, at the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup, the Indian Men’s Junior Hockey squad went unbeaten throughout the tournament, eventually winning a Gold medal.
