• Jarnail Singh was interested in politics and became an Aam Aadmi Party sarpanch from Valtoha village in Tarn Taran district.

• He was shot dead in Amritsar on 5 January 2026. He was attending a wedding function at a resort in Amritsar when the incident occurred during the evening hours.

• According to police, two unidentified men entered the marriage hall posing as wedding guests wearing coats and trousers.
