• Josh Grisetti was born in Washington D.C.

• Born near Rocky Mount (close to Roanoke) in Virginia, he was the pupil of Franklin County High School from his earliest youth.

• Later, he studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, and graduated from high school with a degree in drama in 2000.

• He was Mordred in Camelot at the North Shore Music Theatre in 2005.

• He also had a brief stint in the ABC sitcom The Knights of Prosperity in 2007.

• In 2008-2009, Grisetti performed as David Kolowitz in the Off Broadway musical, Enter Laughing (originally called So Long, 174th Street) at York Theatre in York, PA.

• He was to have his Broadway debut in the Neil Simon revival of Broadway Bound at the Nederlander Theatre in 2009-10, with David Cromer directing the show.

• The production was cancelled two weeks before opening with its sister show Brighton Beach Memoirs closing its doors because of low ticket sales.

• Finally, Grisetti’s first real Broadway performance came in the original musical It Shoulda Been You in 2015 when he was cast as Marty Kaufman.

• In February 2016, under his full name, Grisetti published a memoir titled God in my Head, the true story of an ex-Christian who accidentally met God.

• He relates an experience in this book which he says that he overdosed on painkillers at his dentist’s office and witnessed a near death experience in which God gave him the secrets of the universe.

• The ideas were similar to Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth and William Young’s The Shack, both of which were New Age oriented.

• The book was self-published at first, but later was purchased by Tantor Media and published as an audiobook, which later became an Amazon #1 best-selling book in Spirituality and Religious Psychology.

• Later in 2016, he returned to Broadway, replacing John Cariani as Nigel Bottom in Something Rotten!.

• He continued with the role in the first national tour of the show in 2017-2018.

• He also directed Something Rotten! around this time to Musical Theatre West in Long Beach, California and It Shoulda Been You at Musical Theatre Guild in Los Angeles.

• In 2019, he had the opportunity to join the cast of Beauty and the Beast at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and Mr Wormwood in Matilda at The Muny.

• In the time of COVID-19, Grisetti graduated as the first student with an MFA in performance pedagogy from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

• This was also when he started to become popular for his TikToks about musical theatre preparation, particularly mocking the current system of higher education and the student loan system on many of his videos.

• He started teaching at Cal State Fullerton in Fall 2021 and assisted with redesigning the BFA in Musical Theatre programme.

• In the same year, he appeared in several different roles at the Ogunquit Playhouse, in Spamalot.

• In 2023, two years later, he was appointed to a tenured position at Cal State Fullerton and subsequently became Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the CSU.

• In 2023, he also had a recurring role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which aired on Amazon Prime.

• During 2024, he will perform as Sheldon J. Plankton in SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical.

• Josh Grisetti committed suicide on 10 July 2026 at the age of 44.

• Reportedly, he had no children from both marriages.
