• Prashant Kumar Mishra is an Indian judge. He served as the 3rd Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh from 13 October 2021 to May 2023. On 16 May 2023, his name was recommended by the Supreme Court collegium headed by CJI Dr D.Y. Chandrachud and consisting of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, K. M. • He grew up in a middle-class family in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

• He enrolled as an advocate on 4 September 1987 and began practising law at the District Court in Raigarh, the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur, and the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur.

• He has represented his clients in cases of diverse branches of law including civil, criminal, and writ.

• On 26 June 2004, Prashant Kumar Mishra was appointed as the Additional Advocate General for the State of Chhattisgarh. He served in the position till 31 August 2007 and was later appointed as the Advocate General of Chhattisgarh.

• On 1 June 2021, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, a position he served till 11 October 2021.

• Justice Mishra was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on 13 October 2021, becoming the third Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation. Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan administered him the oath of office at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

• According to section 6 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, Justice Mishra also served as the Patron-in-Chief of the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.

• On 19 May 2023, he became the first judge from Chhattisgarh to be elevated to a Supreme Court Judge.

• Apparently, Allahabad Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker, also hailing from Chhattisgarh High Court, was senior to Justice Mishra. However, Supreme Court Collegium found Mishra more worthy.

• Chhattisgarh High Court is Justice Prashant’s parent court.
