Controversies | Allegations of Sexual Harassment In July 2018, an American journalist Ronan Farrow published an article in The New Yorker claiming that six women working at the CBS office had been sexually harassed by Les Moonves. After the article was published, CBS board began an investigation on Moonves. During the time of investigation, Bucknell University removed all the mention of Les Moonves from it's official website and also his name was removed from the University of Southern California's media center. The following month, The New Yorker published another article claiming that six more women in addition to the original six had come forward with the complaints of sexual harassment against Moonves. In the following months, various female celebrities including journalist E. Jean Carroll and American actress Bobbie Phillips alleged that Moonves sexually assaulted them; however, Moonves denied all the allegations. [2]Screen Rant Accused of ruining Janet Jackson's career According to various reports, Les Moonves was accused of being obsessed with ruining the American singer Janet Jackson's career after the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy. In the 2021 documentary titled "Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson" regarding the incident, it was shown that Moonves wanted both Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake to apologize to him for the incident. Later, Justin Timberlake apologized to him ; however, Les blacklisted Janet from all MTV, VH1 and Infinity Broadcasting radio stations. In the same year, Moonves also got both Janet and Timberlake disinvited from the 46th Annual Grammy Awards. Fined by LAPD for his involvement in a coverup case In April 2024, Leslie Moonves was fined for $15,000 to settle an ethics complaint against himself.
