Some Lesser Known Facts About Madhur Virli

• Madhur Virli was born and raised in New Delhi.

• In an interview, Madhur revealed that at a young age he lost his father, so his mother alone handled Madhur and his brother, Mohit Virli’s responsibilities.

• Virli developed interest in stand-up comedy since his school days.

• At school, he was also known to be good at academics, especially in science and mathematics.

• In 2024, Madhur Virli started, a standup platform, Madhur Model, where he gave chance to other comedian to perform short sers and receive feedback.

• Apart from his main YouTube channel, he started Madhur Virli- RAW to upload podcasts, livestreams, sketches, and experimental content. He is also becoming known for discussing therapy, grief, and mental health in a humorous yet thoughtful way.

• In June 2026, Madhur Virli caught in a controversy after an old video of him from his 2024 stand-up special Love & Latex began circulating on social media. The video has left many viewers angry over remarks about rape and murder.

• In the video clip, Virli said the out of 10 rapes, 9 involves only rape, while one involves murder after the rape.

• After receiving backlash, Madhur Virli issued a public apology on his YouTube channel, saying that he had already taken down the clip year ago after realizing it was inappropriate. In his apology statement he said,

 This is to apologise for a video of mine that is currently being shared online. The clip being circulated is from a performance I did around two years ago. Soon after performing that bit, I understood how wrong it was and took it down at that time, long before the clip started circulating again recently.”

• He added,

I do believe comedy can question ideas and engage with difficult subjects. But certain topics require sensitivity, context and informed discretion. When an attempt falls short, the only honest thing to do is acknowledge it, apologise and do better. This is one of those moments for me.”
