  • He studied Physics at the University of Cambridge where he used a lot of time acting and performing comedy with the Cambridge footlights.
  • He then became an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and later came back to Belfast in order to establish his career on stage and screen.

  • He turned it into a BBC television series, but could not take on the lead role himself as he was too old (at 30) to portray someone at 15.

  • Patrick subsequently joined a clinical drug trial two days after he married Naomi Sheehan in September 2023.
  • In a few weeks he noted the initial improvement in symptoms, and he started to move again, as he had been unable to do before the onset of his illness.
  • He was able to wiggle his right foot and toes, the first time it had happened in some two years. He posted this in the podcast, Brain and Life.
  • In 2023, Patrick starred in The Tragedy of Richard III at the Lyric Theatre Belfast. He played with the use of his wheelchair in scenes which the king was captured riding a horse and he was part of the performance.
