- He applied for the recruitment of priests in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir in 2023. Around 3000 candidates applied for the post and out of them Mohit was shortlisted in the top 200 candidates, who were interviewed on a merit basis. The interview was conducted at Karsevak Puram, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Ayodhya.

- In December 2023, a few days after he was announced as one of the priests in the temple, his intimate photos went viral on social media. After an investigation by the Ayodhya Police, it was found that the Congress leader from Gujarat Hitendra Pithadiya had paid someone to morph Mohit’s photo and circulate it in the media. Hitendra was then immediately arrested by the local police for defaming Mohit and circulating the deepfake photos. [3]Amar Ujala
